The Gift of Therapy
There are well documented benefits in taking a moment or two each day to breathe deeply, ground ourselves, and to tune in to the wisdom of our bodies.
‘Mindfulness gives you time.
Time gives you choices.
Choices, skilfully made, lead to freedom.” (Tamara Levitt)
My belief is that a weekly therapy session can provide the space to be with your Self. It is a reliable and regular place in which to gently explore who you are, and to ask whether some changes might move you towards a healthier and more authentic life.
The therapy journey may accompany and support you through the following stages:
· Sharing and acknowledging your life stories and experiences in a safe and confidential space.
· Becoming aware of the behavioural and relational patterns which have been at play in your life. It is an opportunity to explore which behaviours, situations and relationships might have been taking you away from yourself.
· Shining a light on your internal dialogue, which is often a subconscious driving force behind decision making.
· Uncovering how you really feel and what you really want. These feelings and desires have all too often been buried beneath a life of social conditioning to ‘fit in’ or ‘do the right thing’ or ‘be of service’.
Making life choices from a more self-aware place will have a great impact on your self-esteem. I think it is beautifully captured in this extract of a poem by Emily McDowell-
‘Finding yourself’ is actually returning to yourself.
An unlearning . An excavation. A remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you.”
I very much look forward to meeting you, and to our journey together.
Warmly,
Sian
